About

As a response to nowadays’ need to approach the existing gap between generations and social groups, which has been drastically affected by the COVID-19, this project aims at bringing youth and elders together as well as involving people with fewer opportunities through the implementation of interdisciplinary methodologies reaching various fields such as storytelling, language learning, non-formal education and the use of digitalized tools.

Project aim

To foster a cohesive and inclusive society through storytelling, digitalization and through an intergenerational and intercultural approach among youth.

Collaboration

Through this project, we aim to unite various organizations, institutions, stakeholders, journalists, teachers, youth workers, young people and experts in various fields, in order to celebrate together our heritage, to raise awareness on its history and on its future and to promote our cultures and our languages for the sake of youth. The project will work with the expertise of 8 organizations and with the creativity of young change-makers in order to establish innovate youth language learning and culture-discovery. The project will develop on a cross-sectorial cooperation that will take action on more fields: storytelling, language-learning, creativity, youth work, non formal education and cultural heritage.

The products of the project consist of 63 stories available on a StorytellingHUB and an eBook for language learners. The best 12 stories will be transformed into virtual reality “escape rooms.” The game will be called “EscapeStory Sphere” and will be an interactive language-learning game which promotes heritage and storytelling as ways to learn about languages and cultures.

The game will be available free and online, and can be used with or without VR glasses, by using a laptop, phone or tablet.
The stories will be selected, edited and adapted to different levels of reading material for young learners (beginner, intermediate and advanced). The youth will also be involved in the editing and translating process of adapting the stories. The material will be collected by HEI and PHOART and will be organized into the StorytellingHUB (a platform for language learning, and an eBook).

The eBook will also comprise good practices in language learning as developed during the youth workers’ trainings. Therefore, the youths are encouraged to get to know better the elder and the disadvantaged communities of their cities and to give visibility to their past by turning their stories into language learning material for other European youngsters.
